斯坦福大学今年在US NEWS综合排名第五位，普林斯顿大学、哈佛大学、芝加哥大学、耶鲁大学排在他的前面，与哥伦比亚大学并肩齐名。2015年的录取率是5%，本科生毕业率是75%。
这么低的录取率，不算高的毕业率，但是魅力十足的大学，录取要求是怎么样的呢？下面我们一起来探讨下，斯坦福大学本科生申请的录取要求。
按照中国人的思维习惯，第一个要求，肯定会问，语言分数要求多少？对不起，官方没有给出可以参考的托福分数。USnews官网也没有给出可以参考的托福分数线。所以，亲们可以自动脑补。但是按照我们的思维习惯，还是建议，越高越好。超过了80，都可以当做分母去提交申请看看，申请费90刀。
另外，就是SAT或是ACT，学校讲的很清楚，托福成绩不可以取代ACT或是SAT成绩，因此，这个成绩是一定要有的。同样，官方并没有说需要达到多少标准才可以申请。SAT包括 Evidence-Based Reading 和Writing, Math, 以及 Essay的分数，都要参考。我们参考下USnews的数据，2015年（SAT还没有改革），数学成绩的范围是：
SAT写作的成绩在690-780。ACT的成绩在31-36。
但是，这些标准，只是我们中国人的思维而已，斯坦福大学（其实包括绝大多少美国的大学在内），他们不仅仅是要看这个成绩，更重要的是要看其他的因素：
1、AP & IB 成绩。大学先修课程，或是国际预科课程。分数要求在4-5分。
2、高中期间的成绩，被录取的学生，基本GPA都在4.
3、老师推荐信，别小看推荐信，这是非常重要的一个材料。学校要求写推荐信的老师，一定要是语文/外语老师、数学老师，或是科学老师，历史/社会学学科的老师。
4、Essays，一定不能忽视的重要申请材料：两个申请系统，有两种不同的Essay题目要求。提交Essay的目的，是学校希望通过这些文字，能更加直观的了解，了解到最真实最自然的你。
Coalition Application Essay Prompts
Choose one of the following prompts. The Coalition recommends you write an essay between 300 and 400 words and no longer than 500 to 550 words.
Tell a story from your life, describing an experience that either demonstrates your character or helped to shape it.
Describe a time when you made a meaningful contribution to others in which the greater good was your focus. Discuss the challenges and rewards of making your contribution.
Has there been a time when you've had a long-cherished or accepted belief challenged? How did you respond? How did the challenge affect your beliefs?
What is the hardest part of being a teenager now? What's the best part? What advice would you give a younger sibling or friend (assuming they would listen to you)?
Submit an essay on a topic of your choice.
Common Application Essay Prompts
Choose one of the following prompts. There is a 250-word minimum and a 650-word maximum.
Some students have a background, identity, interest or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.
The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you have experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again?
Describe a problem you’ve solved or a problem you’d like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma—anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.
Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family.

这个一定不能忽视，但是往往有的学生，花费在考托福和ACT或SAT上，忽视了小文章的写作和修改，得不偿失。所以，申请一定要早准备！
5、申请时间的问题：
10月开始，到11月1日，是学校Restrictive Early Action的时间，这个录取率在10%左右。Regular 正常的录取时间，是从12月1日，到1月3日，这个录取率只有5%左右。
所以，想提高录取率，下手一定要早！
